in the final moments, Imam (as) turned towards God.  He prayed sadly with supplication and complained about his disaters and catasrophes. He said:

“i tolerate whatever you decide for me! There is no Lord but you! O’ my helper! There is no God but thou . i wait for you decision and command. You help those who don’t have any aid. There is no end for you! You make the deads alive! Please judge between us as you are the best judge.

This is a kind of belief which was rooted in his essence. It is one of his briliant characteristics…he joined God ..he waited for his disasters…this deep belief made imam to forget his mistakes…

Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Vaeli said in an ode:

يا اباالطف و ازدهي بالضحايا
من اديم الطفوف روض خيل

نخبة من صحابة و شقيق
و رضيع مطوق و شبول

والشباب الفينان جف ففاضت
طلعة حلوة و وجه جميل

و توغلت تستبين الضحايا
و زواکي الدماء منها تسيل

و مشت في شفاهک الغر نجوي
نم عنها التحميد والتهليل

لک عتبي يا ربِّ ان کان يرضيک
فهذا الي رضاک قليل

O’ the owner of Ashura day! While a green and beautiful land is grown in Karbala

Some of his companians, young and old ones

Im talking about your handsome young son

You went to see the bloody martyrs

You were praising Allah in that time

O’ Allah! We just want your satisfaction…

Imam (a.s.) returned to his family for the last farewell while his wounds were bleeding, he advise the women to wear scarves and get ready for the disaster and ordered them to be patient in God’s justice and fate. And said: be prepared for a disaster and know that God will support you, he helps you to get rid of the enemies and provides a good fate for you, and then he will hurt your enemies.Instead of this tragedy, he will give you dignity and blessing; so, do not complain because it can reduce your value. The governments, the countries, and the civilizations would be ruined and changed but the only thing which remains forever is faith.

Who can bear such a disaster and welcome these tragedies firmly. Nobody but Hussein (PBUH)! He was a true symbol of his grandfather, the prophet and his daughter!

The prophet’s daughters became sad as they saw imam and said goodbye to him. Their faces were full of terror; they were saying goodbye to Imam with a perished manner. When Imam saw them, he became so sad.

“Imam KashifAlghta’” says: who can imagine Imam Hussein’s repentance while there were a lot of disasters for him. In that case, he decided to say goodbye to his family. Then he approached to the tent of Zahra and Ali’s daughters. They got out and saw him in blood. Can you imagine their Daunting Situation?

One of the hardest situations in Imam‘s life was his farewell with his wife. The prophet’s daughters were screaming and crying and they called their grandfather. They hugged Imam and said goodbye. This scene had a great effect on him.

“Ummar ibn Saad” shouted to his armed forces and motivated them to fight against Imam and said: Attack him, while he is busy with his family, you will be succeed and there won’t be any differences between the laft and right parts of your army. The evils invade Imam and they threw their beams toward him that fell among the tent ropes.Then Imam Husseincame out angrily and attacked those evils by sword while arrows were thrown toward him in all directions. So he was hurt severely:

  1. 1.An arrow was hit on his mouth and his blood flew. He took his hand under the wound and when it was full of blood, raised it to the sky and said to Allah: O’ my God it is so worthless in your way.
  2. 2.An arrow was hit on his forehead by “Abu HatoofJaafi”. His blood was flown, he said prayer and said: “O’ my God! You see my situation among your disobedient servants. O ‘my God! Consider and kill them and never forgive them. Then he shouted:” o’ maltempered people! After Muhammad you did the evil actions. You won’t kill someone after me whose killing is important for you, but after killing me it would be easy for you! I swear to God! ito be martyred,  Then he will take revenge on you, but you do not understand. The prophet’s reward for surviving them from living in poverty and misery was killing his children; it was the reason of their shame. God answered imam’s request and took revenge on his enemies. There were a few people, then “Mokhtar” attempted to avenge and followed them while they fled to the desert, Mokhtar’s agents ran toward them and most of them were killed.

“Zahri” said:”Hussain’s killers didn’t remain unless they were punished. Some of them were killed or became blind and…

  1. 3.One of the most important things that hurt Imam was the same thing which was narrated by the historians: Imam, after the bleeding had incapacitated him, stopped to rest, then an evil guy threw a stone to him, it hit the forehead, blood was running over his face,Imam picked up his shirt to wipe the blood from his eyes, suddenly an arrow was thrown toward him and hit his heart. He was so kind with all those people. He was sure that he was going to be martyred. He looked at the sky and said:” O’ my God! They want to kill the prophet’s son to not to live on the earth”

Then, he took the arrow out and his blood flew. He held his hand under the wound and said: the presence in the God’s view would make all the problems easy for me!Imam, took some of his blood-stained his face in it. He said: I do it to see my grandfather, the prophet, while I am in blood”.

  1. 4.“Hassin ibn Namir” threw an arrow toward Imam and it hit his mouth and his blood flew, imam threw his blood toward the sky and he cursed those criminal offenders: O’ my God! Punish them as much as you can! They threw a lot of arrows toward him. His body was bleeding and he was so thirsty. So, he sat on the ground and moved his neck because of pain. At the same time “Malek ibn nasr” attacked him and hit him with his sword. Imam’s hat was full of blood. Imam cursed him: I ask God that you can’t drink and eat with your right hand and you are one of the evils”. Then he threw his hat and that guy couldn’t get it because his hands became disabled.

Imam along with ibn Riah:

“Moslem ibn Riah” was the last companion of Imam, an arrow hit imam’s face, he sat and took it out, his blood flew and he couldn’t move. He said to ibn Riah: pour this blood in your hands.

Ibn Riah held his hands under the wound. Imam said: now pour it on my hands. He did so then he looked at the sky and said: O’ God! Demand the revenge of the prophet’s daughter’s son.

Then he poured his blood toward the sky, according to ibn Riah, his blood didn’t come back to the ground.

SevereProtests:

Imam and the elders of his companions wanted to give an ultimatum to the Kufa’s people in order to inform them about their situation and help them to become familiar with the sin that they committed. It was a sin by which the world would be ruined in a way that the ground would be torn down. The mountains would fall,the heavens are torn. So, they called and advised a lot in order to rescue from   the danger of their crime.

Imam’s sermon:

Imam asked for his horse and went toward Ibn Saad’s camp. His novelty reminds his grandfather’s -, the Holy Prophet (PBUH)-dignity.Then he gave his historical lecture among them which was one of the most eloquent and fluent examples of the Arabic literature. Imam shouted loudly:

“O’ people! Listen to my speeches and do not hurry in order to advise you and let me talk about the reason of my entrance, if you accept my excuse and confirm my speeches, you will success. If you don’t accept my excuse and you don’t be fair, try to find a solution for your problems, then you can judge about me. My supervisor is God, and He sent down the book and he would supervise the competent.

The wind conducted his sound toward the noble women of his family, they screamed and cried. He sent his brother, Abbas, and his son,Ali, to them and said to both of them: try to calm them , I can’t bear their tears.

When they calmed, Imam continued his sermon, then he praised Allah and said hello to the prophet (PBUH) and the angels. In that sermon he talked about whatever which were not mentioned before, he said:

O’ people! God created the world and made it the abode of mortals and Nothingness, changes the people’s condition. So, the deceived person is one who is intrigued by it. And the miserable person is one who has charmed it. So be careful to not be deceived by this world, because it makes you hopeless. Those who greed in their lives they would fail. I see you’ve come to the matter in which you have brought the wrath of God upon your actions. And he wants to take revenge. The best Lord is our God and youare the worst servants. You got to admit obedience and believed in the prophet (PBUH), then you have moved toward his offspring and family and wanted to kill them. The devil has overcome you and you have forgotten your God. Shame on you! We are from God and we will return toward Him.

They are the ones who are disbelievers and you have to reject those wicked guys.

Imam advised them with the prophetic words. He warned them about the intrigue and deception of the world and explained its harmful consequences, he warned them about killing the prophet’s offspring by which they would be in atheism and disbelief. Then, they are punishable by eternal punishment and wrath of God.

Then Imam continues: O’ people! Tell me who am I? Then consider yourself and blame yourself to see if it is permissible to kill me and to ignore my sanctity? Am I your prophet’s daughter’s son? Am I the first believer’s son? Isn’t Hamze, the martyr, my father’s uncle? Isn’t JafarTayar my uncle? Didn’t hear about the prophet’s utterances about my brother and me? He said: these two, are the masters of the young people in heaven. That’s right to confirm me. Since I knew that God hate the lie I have not told it. If you reject me, you can ask the other guys about the prophet’s speech about us (Jaber ibn Abdullah Ansari, Abu SaeedKhedri, Sahl Ibn SaadSaaedi, Zeyd ibn Argham and Anas ibn Malek).Does not It prevent you from shedding my blood and killing me? It is the kindest and the most eloquent word that I have ever heard in which the lecturer is so strong and firm. This effective lecture made them to think deeply and made a mental and practical revolution for them. In this way they consider him as the prophet’s grandchild and the masterof youngsters in the heaven, by which they are supported and they won’t lose their dignity. Those armies who didn’t understand this sacred logic, they would commit the crimes and they would forget God.

The evil,”Shemr ibn ZelJoshan” who was a sinner, said to Imam: he worship God by the words and he doesn’t get your mean. He was full of sins and crimes, so he couldn’t understand Imam’s mean.

“Habib ibn Mazahir” answered him and said: I see you worship God with seventy characters or letters; I certify that you are telling the truth because you do not know what the imam says.Allah has set a seal on your heart i.e. you have been chosen by Allah.

Imam continued and said: If you have doubts about this statement, do you doubt that I am the prophet’s daughter’s son?Between East and West,(i.e. in the world) there is no other prophet’s daughter’s son.Zooks, do you know me as the murderer of your dears? Do you know me as a person who wasted your property? Did I hurt you before?

The earth trembled beneath them, and they were wandering about his response. They were completely sure that he was the prophet’s daughter’s son, he didn’t kill anyone or he didn’t waste their property. Then Imam called the commanders of the army who wrote letters to Imam and said: O’ Sheith ibn Rabaai! O’ Hajar ibn Abjar! O’ Gheith ibn Ashaath! O’ Zeyd ibn Harath! Didn’t you write about the situation which is prepared and ready for me?

They did not mind the betrayal of oath and agreement. So, all of them told a lie: “we didn’t do so”.

Imam was so amazed and said: glory be to Allah! I swear to God that you did so!

Imam told to the all units of the army: O’people! If you are not satisfied with me, so let me go to another safe land!

“Gheith ibn Ashath” who was famous for his tricks and hypocrisy, he was far from any dignity and modesty. He was from a family that there was no noble in it. Then he said: don’t you accept your cousin’s command? There won’t be any efficiencies in the relationship with them.

Imam answered: you are truly your brother’s brother. Do you want that BaniHashem ask for more than Moslem ibn Aghil? I swear to Allah! I won’t make a peace with them and I won’t escape like the servants. O’ Allah’s servants! I sake refuge to my God and your God, if you want to stone me! And I sake refuge to Allah from those arrogant People who do not believe in the Last Day!

The countries would be ruined and the governments would be changed. But these valuable words would remain forever, because they reveal the dignity of truth.Alas, those brilliant speeches didn’t effect on them. Ignorance does not let them to understand.God has set a seal upon their hearts and ears and eyes, do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are more misguided than the animals. They ignored Imam’s claim and didn’t pay attention to him. God Almighty says the right: you cannot make a dead to understand and you cannot make a deaf to hear your voice.

Imam Hussein’s speeches for the second time:

Imam’s mercy and kindness made him to advise his enemies, by which none of them couldn’t claim to be unaware of his work.  Then he went to them while he opened God’s book and he put his grandfather’s turban on his head and fastened his armament to himself.  He was so awesome that everybody stared at him. Then he said:

“O’ People! I ask ruin and misery for you! Did you want to fight against us by your sword when you called us to help you? Did you consider justice in that time? You hurried to come to them, when you achieved your goals, you forgot your promises. It shows your baseness, you are the people servants! You are far away God’s book! Shame on you! Do you help them and ignore to help us? This is treason among you! Visitors are destined to grieve and you are the goal of each occupant. Surely this wicked guy is between two things: fighting with sword and being humiliated. Unfortunately we are humiliated. The Lord, the prophets and the believers who are so brave do not allow us to follow the mean people. Truly, I will fight against these people with my small family.Then he read some poetry from” Forvat ibn MasikMoradi”:if we help them to escape, we did it before, and if we fail, try not to behave like the defeated.We are not afraid of anything but this is the governments’ enemy.tell those people who blames you to learn from us. If death is taken from the people, they will attack aggressively. I swear to God that you won’t live anymore unless some of you ride a horse and make the earth to tremble. This is the same thing that I heard from my grandfather: be careful about your affairs then you can decide about me. I trust our Lord. There is no living creature like that, everything is under my God’s control.

Then he started to curse him: my Lord! Do not send rain for them, I wish they have some Famine years like Yusof years, because they have rejected us, you are our Lord, I trust on you, we all return to you.

Imam was so angry as a volcano and said:

First: Imam criticized them because of the inconsistency in their behavior, because they asked aids and helps in order to release oppression and cruelty. But when he wanted to help them, they changed a lot and tried to fight against him with their sword.

Second: he expressed his great regret about their support toward the Umayyad.The government extended neither justice nor right among them and they had no hope and wish in that government.

Third: he criticized their strange characteristics that were in the lowest level. They were deviated from the right way.They were the nation’s servant and they didn’t believe in Allah’s book.

Fourth: imam disagreed with Marjaneh’s son’s request, because he wanted to humiliate imam. Imam was a symbol of a great human, how could he submit for him.

Fifth:  he declared his decision for fight. He was going to go to the battlefirld with his family.

Sixth: Imam talked and declared their fate and he told them that God will send somebody for them to annoy. After a short time “Mokhtar” fought against them. They were so frightened.

These are some important point in Imam’s speeches, he gave that lecture firmly and it made Ibn Saad’s army anxious.

Compliance with Horr:

Horr was moving to a good ending, his conscience was awaken. In the decisive moments os his life, a thought came to his mind. Whereas the were terrifying waves of conflicts in his ego. Whether to join Imam Hussein and sacrifice his life and condition. He didn’t know what should he do after being the pioneer of an army, he was in doubt with the war imam. But Horr overcame his inner conflicts and answered the call of conscience. He decided to join Imam Hussein, before going toward Imam Hussein he went to Ibn Saad and said: do you fight against this man?

Ibn Sa’d answered quickly and without hesitation, and for showing his devotion to his master said:”yeah! The easiest way to do this is cutting heads and hands.’

Horr said: don’t you agree with one of his suugestions?

Ibn Sa’ad said: if i were the commander, i would accept it, but the commander is someone else.

When he was sure about their intention of war, he went away, in the middle of the way –Mohajir ibn Os- said amazingly: I suspect your situation. I have never seen this situation, if someday somebody ask me abot the bravest guy in Kufa, i wouldn’t forget you.

Horr talked about his situation and decision and said: i consider myself between the heaven and fire, i prefer nothing but the heaven, though they kill me…. then he rode his horse toward Imam Hussein. He was so ashamed he said to Imam: “O’ my God! I return to you! I fear your prophet’s heart. I repent, am i allowed to repent? Then he got off his horse while his tears were on his face. He trusted on Imam Hussein and said: O’ the prophet’s son! May God sacrifice me for you! I am the guy who made you to come back here but i swear to God that i didn’t know that this tribe reject you. I don’t care those matters which are rejected by them. They can’t belive that i won’t follow them since then. Now i am at your service to repent and do whatever you want.

Imam forgave him and said happily: yeah! Surely God forgives you and accept ypur repent. Then Horr retold his dream for Imam: O’ may master! Last night i saw my father in my dream. He told me: what are you doing these days? Where were you? I said: i was taking care of Hussein in the way. He said: shame on you! What the relationship between you and Hussein ibn Ali-the prophet’s son-…now i ask you permission to fight and be the first martyr in your way as i was the first rebellion…”

Ashura day and Imam Hussein’s (a.s.) prayer:

None of the nations had experienced a painful disaster like Karbala tragedy. There is no catastrophic disaster which was not happened for the prophet and his daughter. His tribulationsgrieve every one even the cruel ones. So that “Umar Ibn Sa’d” ,who was a wicked man, became sad and started to cry for Imam’s terrible tragedies. In the tragedy of Karbala, a kind of sacrilege happened for the Prophet (PBUH) and his offsprings.

Imam Reza (a.s.) said: “Hussein’s day hurt our eyes and humiliated our dear.”

Now we are dealt with the different sessions of that immortal disasterin the world of sorrows and painful incidents.

The progress of army:

The cruel forceswith evil spirits and full of hatred and hostility about the relatives of the prophet and the right and justice seekers began their attempts.The forefronts of Ibn Saad’s army moved toward Imamon Thursday evening, the ninth day of Muharram month. Ibnziyadordered the Commander in Chief to fight immediately, lest the army members scattered.

When that army moved, Imam Hussein sat in front of his tent and put his sword on his knees, he was drowsy, suddenly his sister, Zeinab, heard that men voices and woke him up.

Imam said to his sister: I saw a dream in which the prophet told me: you will come to us…

That great ladybecame distraught and said:”shame on me…!”

Imam Abbas said to his brother: O’ my brother! These people have come to you. He asked him to be aware of their issue and said: My life for you! Ride toward them and try to encounter with them. Then ask the, what is the problem with you? What do you want?

Abolfazl, quickly raced towards them, while twenty follower were with him by their horses two of them were: “Zahir ibn Qyn and Habib ibn Mazahir”. Abbas asked them about their progress and said: Amir ordered us to convey his message to you or try to fight with you!

Imam Abulfazl returned to his brother to retell the story for him, in that time Habib ibn Mazahir went toward that group of people and tried to advise them and recall the Last Day. I swear to Allah! The worst people who came to Allah and the prophet are those who had killed the prophet’s offspring and his household.

“Ozrat ibn Qeith” answered him and said: O’ Mazaher’s son! Do you consider yourself innocent!

“Zahir ibn Qin” said: O’ Qis’s son! Fear Allah! Do not be misled! Do not be one of those people who kill the innocents and the prophets.

Ozreh told: you were the Ottomans with us. What is the problem with you?

Zahir said: I swear to Allah! I didn’t write a letter to Hussein and I didn’t send a representative to him. But I was along with him on the way. When I saw him, I remembered the prophet. I knew how you are unfaithful and break your promise. Then I decided to help and follow him in order to protect whatever you didn’t do for the prophet.

Imam Abolfazl narrated the story for his brother: return to them! You may be able to delay them for tomorrow,so tonight we can say prayer, call upon Him and seek His forgiveness. He knows that I love prayer , reading his book,and asking for forgiveness.

Imam Abbas returned to them and narrated his brother’s utterance for them. Ibn Saad narrated the story for Shemr, fearing it might be harmful for him, if they accept Imam’s request. He was the only competitor for the army commanding and spying against him. Or maybe he wanted to make Shemr to be shared in his responsibility, if ibn Marjaneh complained about the war delay.However, Shemr did not comment on this matter and adjourned the matter to ibn Sa’ad.”Amribn Hajjaj Zbydy” criticized their refusal of Imam’s request and said: Be He Glorified! I swear to Allah! If he was anyone else, and had such a request, it was good to accept it.

Hejjaj’s son didn’t add anything to that speech and he didn’t say that he is the prophet’s son, fearing the army members tell his speech to Marjaneh’s son or they have to punish and blame him.

Asha’ath’s son confirmed the speeches Hejjaj’s son and said to ibn Sa’ad: accept whatever they asked you. I swear to my life! They will fight with you in the future!

Ibn Asha’ath said this because he thought Imam will be silent. So, he was willing to delay the war.But when he realized that the Imam decided to battle, he regretted his behavior and said: If I knew they behave like this, I won’t delay them.

Asha’ath’s son measured the other men’s behavior by the Kufi’streatmenet as a criterion. I thought that iam would accept the humiliation and refuse his duty. He does not know that imam followed his grandfather.

Delay at war until the morning:

After acception the war delay, Sa’ad’s son asked one of his companions to announce that matter. He went to Imam Hussein’s camp and said: O’ companions of Hussein ibn Ali! We delayed the war to the next day for you, so whenever you are satisfied to accept our suggestion, I will take you with him. If you don’t want to accept it, we will fight with you!

Until the tenth day of Muharram, they delayed to fight. Ibn Sa’ad’s companions were waiting to know Imam’s answer, to reject or to accept them…

Imam’s caravan arrived in “Sharaf”, there was a spring there, and Imam ordered the youth to take plenty of water. Then the caravan moved in the desert and suddenly one of the companions of Imam proclaimed (Allah-u-Akbar). Imam was so astonished by his action and said: “why did you say Allah-u-Akbar?”- I saw palm trees.A man from the companions of Imam who was familiar with the road, said: there is no palm tree here. Whatever you see here is spear and horses’ ears.

Imam thought a little and said: “I also see it.” Imam knew that they were forefronts of the enemy troops who came to fight with him. Then he said to his companions:” are there any safe shelters for us to face with the enemy from just one side?”

One of his companions, who knew the road, said to Imam:” yeah! The Zuhasam-the name of a mountain- is beside you. If you go to the left side of it, this will be your favorite position.”

Imam’s caravan moved toward it. Not too much away, the army of Hurr ibn YazidRiahi reached them. Ibn Ziad ordered him to move in the island desert and seek for Imam, then arrest him.He had about a thousand horsemen.At noon, they stood against Imam, but the weather was very hot.Imam saw that they are dying of thirst, he was so sorry for them. Imam neglected their intention about his killing and ordered his companions to give water to them and their horses. Imam’s companions gave water to them,then they went toward the horses, and poured water in the containers and dishes three or four times, and tried to give water to all of the horses. Imam was prepared in the trip, because the dishes were enough for giving water to thousand housemen and their horses and this was in addition to other furniture and baggage.However, it showed imam’s dignity that he helped that troop who wanted to fight with him. Historians said:”Ali ibn Ta’anMaharebi” was one of the members of that army, he discussed about imam’s dignity and great morals: I was among those who had been hurt by thirst, Imam Hussein ordered me to put the water containers (Ravie in Arabic language in Hijaz) to sleep but I didn’t catch his words. Because “Ravie” means “camel” in the native language of Hijaz. When he realized that I didn’t understand him, he said:” put the camel to lie. I did so, when I wanted to drink water, it flew from the waterskin. Then he said: Take the waterskin. But I didn’t know what I should do. The Imam came and took it by himself in order to give water to my horse and me. That great temper and esteem didn’t affect that army and none of them were affected by the great ethics. Except Horr whose conscience was affected by that kindness and then he joined Imam and was martyred in his service.

Imam’s lecture:

Imam welcomed the army units and gave a lecture for them, the he explained about his intention which is not fighting, but he received their letters and accepted their invitation. After praising God he said:

O’ people!  I excuse dear God and you and I swear to him! I decided to come to you since I received your letters. May God guide us because of you!  I you believe it, I will stay with you. So promise me in order to be sure. I you don’t like my stay, I will come back to my land.

They couldn’t answer him, because some of them wrote a letter for his invitation and sent it by his ambassador-Moslem ibn Aghil- in order to take the allegiance… it was the prayer time…Imam ordered his Muezzin-Hejaj ibn Masroogh-to call the rayers at noon. Then Imam said to Horr: do you want to say prayer with your companions?

-yeah! Sure, I want to say prayer with them!

They followed Imam for prayer, then they went to their tents. At the time of afternoon prayer, Horr said prayer with his companions and Imam.

Imam’s great sermon:

After the afternoon’s prayer, Imam gave a marvelous sermon and after praising Allah, he said:

O’ people! If you fear God and know the right, it will satisfy God.We, as the prophet’s household, are more worthy and appropriate to do these acts rather than those who claim for them, as they are governing by oppression. If you don’t like me, and you changed you mind about my arrival, I will come back. Imam called them to follow God’s obedience, right affairs and the Muslim leaders by that sermon.Because, they were more deserving than Umayyad who developed cruelty among them. Then he remarked that he will come back if they changed their minds.Horr ,who was unaware of those letters and the political movements in Kufa,said to Imam: what are those letters that you are talking about them?

The tribe of Holy Prophet PBUH was born in the4th year of Hejira. It is also mentioned he was borninthe 3rdyear;some of the historians differ on his birth month and mostly believe that he was born onthe 5th of Sha’ban. Some of the scholars has not determinedthe exact birthday and said he was born onone of the nights of Sha’ban. Others also failed to considerthis matter and just mentioned he was born on Sha’ban.Some of the grandeesbelieve that he was born at the end of Rabi’ al-Awwal whichis a conflicting opinion andit is ignorable.

After Imam Hussein declared his final rejection of Yazid’s allegiance, he moved toward Mecca with his household and took refuge in the holy and sacredAllah’s house.Therefore, Godprovidesconfidence and security for his servants as a necessary element. Imam turned to this secure city in order to be safe from the evil and aggression of Umayyad.The historians say: Imam left there on Sunday night, two nights at the end of the month of Rajab, 60 AH, the people of Medina were distracted because the prophet’s household was leaving their city.

The convoy left Medina. It was moving fast and imam recited the word of God. Lord! Save me among the wicked. Imam likened his move to Imam Musa’s. his attempt was against the cruel king of their land, feron, in order to promote the truth and justice.

Imam selected a public method and lifestyle. Some of his companions suggested him to follow the method of “Zobeir’s son” and try to abandon the main way in order to reject some people in Medina. But imam replied simply: “I swear to God that I will never abandon this way until I visit Mecca and God orders about whatever he likes.”

Imam was satisfied about whatever God wants and nothing could weaken him in his affairs. As “Yazid ibn Mafragh” said in his poetry:

I won’t hurt the birds in dawn, because I don’t want to be called “Yazid”

That day when I am afraid of death and somebody takes care of me to not escape.

He was sure that while he has great determination, he has a good life without any suffering and humiliation in front of Yazid government. Some narrators said that he chanted:

If a man doesn’t support his women and children, he is a cheap guy.

Before Yazid achieve his goal I would accept death eagerly.

This poetry shows Imam’s enthusiastic will for death. It is acceptable everywhere, but he won’t accept Yazid’s allegiance.

Along with Abdullah ibn Moti:

In the way, Abdullah ibn Moti came to welcome Imam and said: O’ Aba Abdellah, Allah sacrifices me to you, where are you going?

–    I am going to Mecca and when I arrive there I would seek good will.

–  O’ the Daughter of the Messenger of Allah’s son! May God wants the best wishes for your decisions. I have a suggestion for you, accept it!

–  What’s that?

–   When you go to Mecca, be careful about the deception of Kufa’s people. Because your father was killed there and they hit your brother. Be the shrine attendant that you are the best of Arab in your own time. I swear to God, if you are killed, your hosehold will be destroyed with thee.

Imam thanked him and gave him a blessing. Imam’s caravan moved fast and didn’t pay attention to anything. They arrived to Mecca. When Imam saw it’s mountains said God’s speech: when he turned to Medin he said: It is hoped that my Lord guide me to the right path. The migration of the Imamtoward Mecca was similar to Mussa’s migration toward Medin. Because both of them migrated in order to fight against their king’s oppression.

On Friday night, on the first three day of Sha’aban, Imam arrived in Mecca and stayed in Abbas ibn Abd al-motaleb’s house. The people of Mecca welcomed him greatly. Every morning and evening they went to the Prophet and asked their religious questions and traditions of the prophet.

“Ibn Kathir” says: in Mecca, the people went to him and sat around him and listened to him and used it, then they wrote whatever they heard.

Imam attracted them by his spiritual attraction. The people came to him to use his knowledge.

(The Umrah pilgrims’ attention to Imam Hussein(a.s.:

Those people who came to Allah’s house from other areas, went to Imam, and asked about science and other prophet’s sayings in order to be guided in their lives.Imam didn’t spend his time without spreading social awareness through those people. Imam asked them to be awake and avoid the Umayyad policy whose aim was enslaving and humiliating the Muslims.

Local government anxiety:

Since imam’s arrival, the local government became anxious. They were afraid that imam changed there to a politicalcenter for his invitations and a place for revolution against Damascus’s government.Therefore, ‘Amr ibn SaeedAshdq “,ruler of Mecca, came to Imam while he was so distressed and said: what makes you to come here?

-I have taken refuge in the house of the Lord.

Imam had taken refuge to the Lord’s house which is so safe from oppression and violence.

Ashdagh didn’t pay attention to Imam’s speech then he wrote a letter to Yazid and informed him about Imam’s arrival to Mecca and people movement in order to Imam’s admiration and told him that it may hurt Ummaviyeh government.

Imam Hussein with Amro ibn Abbas:

When Imam Hussein came to Mecca, in that time “Abdollah ibn Abbas and Abdollah ibn Ommar” stayed there.They came to welcome him while they intended to visit Mecca. Then “Omar’s son” said:

“O’ Aba Abdellah!God bless you,fear God and you return to him at the end of your life. You know that the members of BaniUmmayeh are your enemy, now Yazid is the ruler. I am not sure that the people follow him to kill you. Because I heard that the prophet said: Hussein will be killed, if they didn’t help him, Allah would humiliate them until the Day of Resurrection.I suggest that you drop into the peace that the people arein it. Wait patiently as you previously did with Muawiyeh.Maybe God judge between you and the wicked.” Imam Hussein said: I swear allegiance to Yazid and accept his peace?!!! While the Prophet (PBUH) has said what he said about his father.

Ibn Abbass said: O’ Aba Abdellah! You were right. The prophet said: There is no relationship between Yazid and I, he will kill my son and my daughter’s son, I swear to Allah, My child does not be killed in a group of people, unless Allah makes discord between their hearts and tongues.

Ibn Abbas and Imam Hussein began to cry. Then he said to Ibn Abbass: O’ Ibn Abbass! Do you know that I am the prophet’s grandson?

Yeah, I swear to God that we knew you are the prophet’s grandson. And it is necessary that this nation help you as the ritual prayer and charity tax are necessary for them. None of them is accepted without the other.

Imam Hussein said:”are you talking anout those people who got out the prophet’s grandson? They made him anxious to not stay calm and they intended to kill him by these attempts while he worship only God and followed the prophet…”

Ibn Abbass confirmed him and said: I don’t say anything about them except they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and do not go to the prayer unless they are tiered. Whoever Allah sends astray, for him you won’t find a way. God will punish these kinds of people. But you! You are an honor for the prophet; don’t think that God doesn’t know about the tyrants. There is no benefit in the wars against the prophet.

Imam Hussein confirmed him and said: “yeah! I swear to Allah!”

Then Ibn Abbass proposed his eagerness to help Imam Hussein: O’ the prophet’s son! I sacrifice for you! I think that you ask me to help you. I swear to Allah that if I fight and do my best in the wars I couldn’t compensate a small part of your endeavor for me. Now I am at your service, order me!

Ibn Ummar interrupted Ibn Abbass and said to Imam Hussein: “don’t doubt about your decision, come back to Medina. And make peace with those groups. And do not abandon your land and your grandfather. There is no use in the relationship with them. If you don’t like to swear allegiance with them you are free because Yazid may be alive for a short time.”

Ummar’s son said: I swear to Allah! God doesn’t let you do something wrong and there is no body as pure as you. I scare that the swords hurt your beautiful face. I scare that you see something in this nation which not so pleasant. So, come to Medina with us and if you do not like the allegiance you can stay at home.

Imam told him about the bad intentions of the Ummayah and said: O’ Ummar’s son! This group do not abandon me. They force me to accept the allegiance or they may kill me. Don’t you know Abdollah! This world is so worthless in which somebody brought Zakaria’s head for the BaniEsrael. While it was a good reason for them! Don’t you know Abo AbdolRahman! Isaiah seems to have done nothing in the dawn!God did nothing about them but empowers them!

This conversation showa Imam’s determination to battle with Yazid. There were two choices for him: allegiance or glorious death. Then he preferred the glorious death.

Imam Hussein’s testamentary to Ibn Abbass:

Imam Hussein read his will for ibn Abbass: O’ Abbass! You are my uncle’s grandchild. You followed the good affairs from the first times that I knew you. You accompanied my father and suggested him those affairs which contain divine reward. My father used to consult with you. So, go to Medina and let me inform of you. While the people of this land support me and follow me I stay here but if they abandon me, I will replace someones else. And I seek to Ibrahim’s speech as he was in the middle of fire: he said: God is enough for me! He is the best supporter for me! Then the fire changed to a cool place for him….

Section VII:Yazid’s Government and Imam Hussain’s (AS) Rejection ofAllegiance

“Yazid” took over the leadership of the Islamic governmentafterhis father’s death. Ashe was very younghe was not qualified enough. According to the historians, he paid considerable attention toluxury, hunting, wine, women,and hound. In addition, he was involved in prostitution and committed sins.When his father died, he was not in Damascus but he was on a hunting trip in“Hvaryon Al-sanyh”. “Zahhak ibn Qays” sent a letter of condolences on the death of his father,CaliphMu’awiya. In contrast to this news, he was also congratulatedand asked to comeimmediately to Damascustotake the helm of affairs.

When Yazid read the letter, hemoved to the capital along with a caravan of his uncles. He had long hair and a dusty face. Also, he did not wear a turban and a sword.

People came to greet him,as they werewarning his situation was critical they said “he is the nomadic whohas been chosen by Mu’awiyato control over the affairs, and Allah will askedMu’awiya about him.

Yazidwent to his father tomb, weep beside it, andsaid:

“Postman brought a letter which pierced my heart.”

“Wesaidshame on you. What is this letter all about? He said the Caliph is agoning and

taking the pain. ”

Then, an official convoy consisted ofShams (Syria)ignoble people, his uncles, and others from Umayyad dynasty accompanied him to the place of “QbatohAlkhazra’”.

 Yazd’s Prelection for Syrian People

Yaziddelivered a sermon and stated that he determined and decided to enter the war against the people of Iraq. The text of which was as follows:

O, you Syrian people! Indeed, there has been pleased among you permanently andthere will be a difficult war between me and the people of Iraq.I dreamed that acreek of blood flowing between me and them.I tried to pass cross the creek but I was not able to, till Ubaidullah bin Ziyad came and passed while I was looking at him.”

Syrian people confirmed and announced their full support to him and said: “O, the commander of the faithfultake us wherever you want and fight against whoever you want we serveyou,Iraqi people know our swords in the day of Siffin.”

Yazidbecame proud of their loyalty and sincerity towards himself. Moreover, it became apparent that Yazidwould declare thewar against the Iraqi people because of their failure in giving allegiance of loyalty to him and their sympathy with Imam Hussein (AS).

With Opponents in Medina

Yazid could not toleratethe power of the opposition and disloyalty to his regime; therefore, he firmly decided to suppress them.Everything was ready,everyone obeyed him, and he controlled the state. Consequently, what was preventing him tosubdue the enemies and opponents?.The important point he was worried about was Imam Hussein (AS)as he influenced the Muslim and hehad a very high standing, he was the grandson of the owner of Divine Missionand the prince of the youth of the heaven, but Yazid did not consider his son“Zubair”as important as Imam Hussein (AS).

Strict Regulation to “Walid”

Yaziddictated strict regulationto his deputy “Walid bin A’tabeh” to force the oppositionto declare theirallegiance in Medina. He sent him two letters. The first one wasnarrated differently as follows:

1 – According to “Khawarizmi”“Then: Mu’awiya wasa servant of Allah who was cherishedand honored for his own and empowered him, then he was summoned to a convenientlocation, a merciful place, by Allah.His life was based on destiny andhis death was based on fate. He has advised me to avoid Abu Turab’sfamilybecause of their courage in shedding blood. O,Walid!  Blessed and exalted Allahwill takerevengeof Uthman through Al AbuSufyan as they are assistantsof Allah and demand justice.So, whenever you receive this letter take the oath of allegiance from the people of Medina.”

This letter included the following:

A-Informingthe death of Mu’awiya toWalid.

B-Yazid’s feeling ofapprehensionat prophecy family as, his father had advised

him to beware of them.This matter is against Mu’awiya’sproclaimed testament

owning to the fact that, he had requiredhis sontorespect, honour, andpay attention

toImam Hussein (AS).

C -Acceleration in having the allegiance of the people of Medina.

Blazry narrated Yazid’s letter:

“Then: Mu’awiyaibn AbiSufyan wasa servant of Allah who was cherishedand honored for his own and empowers him, and provided him with facilities. His life was based on destiny and his death was based on fate. Allah blessed him because he lived and died in righteousness and piety, and peace! ….”

The prevailing thought is that this narration is true, as it only announced the death ofMu’awiya toWalid withoutmentioningthe demand forImam Husseinand other critics’ oath of allegiance.But according to the first narration, it would be futile to consider the following sent letter,regarding Imam Hussein’s (AS) obligation to swear allegiance.

The second letter is short and is compared to the ear of mice and there are three narrations:

Tabari and Blazary narrated itas fallows,“Then: take Hussein, Abdullah ibn Umar, and Abdullah ibn Zubayrseriously without any permission until they swear an oath of allegiance toYazid, peace.”

It is also narrated by “Yaghoubi”as: “Whenever you’ve received the letter, summon Hussein bin Ali and Abdullah ibn Zubayr andask them to swear allegiance.If they refused,decapitatethem and send their heads to me. In addition, if anyone refuses,do the same, peace.”

In the second narration, nothing was mentioned regarding the name of “Abdullah bin Umar”and it is strongly believed that his name was added to Hussainand Zubair’s son to consider himasthe opposition, and acquit him from the obvious confirmation of allegiance to Yazid.

3. “Hafiz Ibn Asaker”narrated this way: “Summon peopleto get their allegiance and initiate form the elders of Quraysh. Begin with Hussein bin Ali, becausethe commander of the faithful (Mua’wiyah) has advised me convince himand compromise with him.”

There is not anything mentioned regarding the name of Zubair and Umar’s son,as Yazid did not concern about them.We doubt about the last part of this letter, whether Mu’awiyatestatedYazid to compromise with Imam Hussein (AS) and convince him;As, Mua’wiyatook a defensive position and hatred of the prophecy of the prophet. He also performed all acts of cruelty against them which it was mentioned in previous discussions.The prevailing thought is that, this sentence is added to acquitMu’awiyaand abdicate his responsibilityconcerning his son’s committed crime against thepure relatives of the Holy Prophet.

One thing remains. Because of its smallness, the historians have described the letter as the small ear of mice. Perhaps the reason of sending this size of letter is that Yazid believed what he has ordered, killing of Hussein and Ibn al-Zubayr, would be performed by Walid. It is common that this action has an unpleasant consequence.Among that is dissatisfaction and anger among Muslims. In fact, He wanted to accuse Walidand he did not order to assassinate them. If he had ordered it, there would have been a special detailed one.

“Zryq” theservant of Mu’awiyatook over both of the letter and moved quickly. He continuedwithout stopping until he reached Yathrib. While “Abdullah ibn Sa’d ibn AbiSrh”was accompanying him, he masked so that only her eyes were visible.In the way, he faced with “Abdullah ibn Zubayr”. Abdullah asked about Mu’awiya, but he did not respond.Then he asked whether Mu’awiya died? But he did not answer. He understood and went to the Holy Prophet(PBUH) to get the news. Imam Hussain(AS) told him“I think Mu’awiyadied because last night I dreamed that his pulpit has been turned upside down and his housewas burning. I interpreted as the death of Yazid.”

Zryq came to Walid’shome and askedHajebto give him permission, he said Walid isnot here and it is not possible to see him. He shouted at him, said I have a command.Hajeb informed Walidand He allowed. Walid was sitting on a bed.When he heard the death of Mu’awiya,he became greatly distressed, sprang up, and throw himself on his bed.

Walid’s Distress

“Walid was worried about Yazid’s order, regardingthe suppression of the opposition, because he believed that it would not be easy to getthe allegiance of the people,unless they resort to violence or as Yazid had ordered decapitate them. Mu’awiya could not subordinate themwith all his political powersto swear allegiance to Yazid, then how Walid couldperform the action thatMu’awiyawas not able to. 

Consultation with Marwan

Walid was wandering so he decided to consult with Marwan, the greatest of Umayyad dynasty. He recalled him. Marwan came as he was wearing a white shirt and floral bedspreads. When Walid announced him the death ofMu’awiya,he became distraught. Then, he told him theorder of Yazid, forcing opposition compelled the allegiance and in case of anywithholding decapitatethemand he asked Marwanto offer his comments and give his opinion compassionately and devotionally. 

Marwan’s Comments

“Marwan” said, invited them to follow the oath of allegiance to Yazid and obeyed him,if they did, accept it. But if they refused, throw them up and decapitated them before being informed of his death. If they understand his death, they will announce their opposition and call people to obeythem, in this case I will be afraid of losing the ability to control them, except Abdullah bin Umar whowould not conflict with anyone regarding this matter….I know that Husayn ibn Ali will not agree with you on the oath of allegiance to Yazid. I swear! If I were you, I would not exchange a single word with him until I decapitate him, whatever that may be.

This matter was difficult for Walidas he was the most intellectual and purgative person of Umayyaddynasty. He came to Marwan and said, “Oh! I wish Walid was not born and nothing was mentioned. ”

Marwan ridiculed and criticized him, said: “do not become impatient.Abu Turab’stribe has been enemyup to now, they killed Caliph,Uthman ibn Affan, and then fought with the commander of faithful(Mu’awiya).

Walid becameaggressive and said: “shame on you! Talk specifically about the son of Fatima, he is the heritage of prophecy.”

They decided to summon them and havetheir consultationsfor the dominant power.

Imam Hussein’s farewell to the grave of his grandfatherart8

Imam Hussein, went sadly to the grave of his grandfatherto complain about the wrong doers. Imam stood beside the grave, prayed two rak’ahs, he was very impressed and depressed, then he complained about his distress and said: O God! This is the tomb of Muhammad, your prophet. And I am his daughter’s son, some events happened for me that you are informed about them. O God! I love good acts and Ihate evil acts.

O holder of glory! For the sake of this grave and its owner, I ask you to select for me what makes you and your prophet satisfied.

Imam Hussein saw his grandfather in dreams.

Imam Hussein (a.s.) looked at his grandfather’s grave for a long time, While he was sure that he may never see it again, then fell to weeping. It was early morning that he felt drowsy. He saw his grandfather, the prophet, who came with a group of angels. He hugged Imam Hussein and kissed between his two eyes. And said: it seems that you will be killed soon in Karbala and your head will be cut while you are thirsty and they don’t give you water. But they hope that he will help them in future.

My dear! Hussein! You father, mother and brother came to me and they are enthusiastic to see you. There are great grades in the heaven for you which is possible only by martyrdom.

Imam Hussein looked at his grandfather for a long time and remembered his kindness. Then he became more eager. Then he imagined the hardship in Umaviye government. He had two choice :aleggiace of BaniUmmayeh and hardship in their government. Then he resorted to his grandfather and said: my grandfather! I don’t need to come back to the world, take me with yourself and let me to have dignity.

The prophet PBUH got impressed and said: you have to return to the world to gain martyrdom and the great divine reward. You, your father, uncle and father’s uncle will be gathered up into heaven.

Imam Hussein woke up excessively stressed. He was so depressed and he was completely sure that he will be martyr. Then he got together all his family members and retold the dream for them. Nobody was sadder than them about that matter.

Imam Hussein’s farewell with his parents’ tomb:

Imam Hussein (a.s.) went toward his mother tomb who was so dear for the prophet. He stood for a long time near her tomb and remembered about her kindness. He was so eager to go to his mother, then he cried and said goodbye to it then he went toward his father’s tomb, imam Hassan (a.s.), and he cried so much then he came back home while he was so sad.

BaniHashim women’s panic:

When the Imam decided to leaveMadinah and took refuge in Mecca, the women of Abd al- Motaleb family got together while they were so sad because they heard a lot of news about the prophet son who was killed( imam Hussein(a.s.)).

They atarted jeremiad and began to cry.It was a frightening scene. Imam Hussein said firmly: for the sake of God! Do not clarify this act which is a sin to God and the Prophet. They became sad and screamed:” Who we are jeremiad and cry for. Today is the day that the prophet, Ali, Fatemeh, and Hassan had passed before. May our Lord sacrifice us for you. O popular righteous! One of his aunts came to him while his face was flushed. He was frequently interrupted by the sound of crying and said: I heard from a Pythian (Hatef):

وان قتيل الطف من آل هاشم

اذل رقاباً من قريش فذلت

“That person who was killed in Tef, cut the heads of  the Quraysh’s members and humiliated them.”

Imamorderedhimto becalmandpatiant, as he ordered to the other ladies of Abdulmutallab’s family before.

Alongwith his brother, Hannifah’s son:

“Muhammadibn Hannifah” was so distracted and he ran toward Imam Hussein while he couldn’t walk easily and see his front because of his sadness. When he stood said to Imam Hussein:” my brother! My life forthee! You are the most beloved and dearest to me. I swear to God! I will narrate all the advices for the people! No one ismorequalifiedthan youto it, you are like my soul, you are the great one ion my household, you are the only person that i trust on him and i have to obey you and the elevated Godgaveyoudignity and chose you as one of the Elysian. I want to suggest you, so accept it…”

Muhammad conveyed his kindness and respect to his brother by those speeches. Muhammad said: “i suggest to reject Yazid’s allegiance, then send your representatives for the people. So ifthey accept yourallegiance, you thank God. But if they accept some one else’s allegiance, your religion won’t be incomplete and it won’t decrease your dignity. I am afraid of your presence in one of those cities and their people’s conflicts. I am afraid that a gropu of them is in favor of you and they will fight against the other group who is against you. So those guys who are killed in this war are the cheapest ones.”

Imam Hussein said:”where should i go?”

“stay in Mecca, if you were calm there, you would stay. Otherwise you have to go to the mountains and emigrate from one city to the other. Thus, your vote is the rightest one and your act is the most farsaighted one. So it makes you to welcome the events and continue the difficult affairs. Imam started to speak, oblivious to theevents, and informed him about his firm decision of rejecting the allegiance. And said: i won’t swear alegiance with YazidibnMu’awiya, even there is no shelter for me in the world.

Hannifah’s son started to cry because he was sure about a disaster which is going to happen and he remembered the disasters which happened for his brother. Imam thanked him because of his caring. And said:” my brother! May Godgiveyougoodfine, because you manifested your caring and did a lot of good affairs. I am going to Mecca. My reltives’ situation is similar to mine. There is no problem for you to stay here and take care of the events and narrate all of them for me.”

Imam Hussein’s testimony to Hnnifah’s child:

Imam wrote his eternal testimony for his brother, Hannifah’s son in which he talked about his great revolution elementswhich were against the Yazid government. In this testimony, after God’s name he said:

“this is all the things that Hussein ibn Ali testified to his brother,Muhammad ibn Hannifah. Hussein bears witness that there in no lord except our God and there is no partner for him. Muhammad is his servant and he come by him. The heaven and fire are true and the The Day of Resurrection will undoubtedly come and Godmotivatethose whoare in the graves. I am not moving because of absurdity, arbitrariness, corruption or oppression. But i have risen to reform the nation of my ancestor and prophet PBUH, i want to promote good affairs and reject the bad deeds. I want to behave like my grandfather and my father, Ali ibn Abitaleb. Those who accept me they accept God in fact. Those who reject me and complain, i ask God to judge between us because he is the best judge. My brother! This is my testimony for you!I have put my trust in God and i will return to Him!”

Imam began his eternal revolution because of these noble purposes. He didn’t go out arbitrarily and therewas nofinancialbenefitfor himselfand his family. But his uprising was against the regim’s oppression. He wanted to promote justice among the people. He has a marvelous speech:

Those who accept me they accept God in fact. Those who reject me and complain, i ask God to judge between us because he is the best judge.”

Imam introduced his uprising as an attempt for justiceanddestructionofevil. He called the nation in the name of truth and rightness in orther to get them together and protect their rights and dignity which was crushedby theUmayyads.If thecommunitydoes not respondto thechants for freedom, hisrevolutionarymovement continues with patience andpersistencein fighting against theoppressorsandaggressors. God will judge between that nation and him, because he is the best judge… he showed that he wanted to behave like his grandfather and ancestors and he disagreed with the Caliphs’s methods.

In thistestament, there are some items about the reason of Imam’s uprising that we will refer to them later. After the tertament to his brother, Imam got ready to go to Mecca in order to visit the Mecca’s pilgrims and talk with them about the current situation in the country  and the possible risks and crises of Yazid government for the people. Before Imam leave Medina toward Mecca,he went to his grandfather’s mosque while he was so sad and said goodbye to him and remembered his childhood memories with his grandfather because Hussein didn’t forget his grandfather’s kindness. Hussein and i are exactly the same, God loves everyone who loves Hussein.

Imam remembered about the noble values of the prophet which were common between them. These are the same values which were the reason of the prophet mission. Imam knew that the prophet’s attention was not just because of being kind, it was for continuing the prophecy. Imam was sure that he need a big sacrifice to save Islam from the criminals.Historianssay: that imam entered the mosque among his household. He was walking and emphasized “Yazid ibn Mofragh’s speech”:

لاذ عرت السوام في فلق الصبح مغيراً و لا دعيت يزيدا
يوم اعطي من المهانة ضيما والمنايا ترصدنني ان احيدا

“atdawn, i do not attack the birds, because by this work they call me Yazid”.

“a day comes when somebody force me to run away but i don’t”.

Abu Saeed says: when i heared about this poetry,i don’t think like this about Imam, after a while i was informed about his departure toward Mecca.

Imam decided to sacrifice in order to change the life style and promote the divine thought in the world.

But, the people of Yasrib, as the prophecy center,became so sad when they informed the people about imam Hussein’s departure. Those people were sure about the diaster which was hapening for them. The only light of prophecy was going out of their city. The prophet’s companions were so sad,too. They could see some signs of the prophet in his grandchild.

The Holy Prophet himself conducted Imam Hussein (AS) religiousceremonyand performed the following actions.
Announcement of Prayer and Proclamation for Performing the Prayer
The Holy Prophet PBUH embraced Imam Hussein (AS)passionately and utteredthe announcement of prayer in his right ear and proclamation for performing the prayer in his left ear. It is narrated that “thisaction protects the newborn infant against execrable devil.”
Hussein (AS) heard the sound of hisancestor, the Holy Prophet PBUH, as the first sound.He was also the first one who turned towards Allah and called people to worship Allahthrough the hymn of‘‘Allah is the greatest and there is no God but Allah.”

The Holy Prophet PBUHeducatedhim the essence of faith and reality of Islam in such a case that they became the main part of his life and fascinated him in all aspects. Then, hefought in the cause of Allahand scarified everything to make these words valuable, prevail all the forces of good and peace, and destroy the signs of ignorancerenegation-that was trying to extinguish the light of Allah.
Nomination
The Holy Prophet nominated him “Hussien” as he nominated his brother “Hassan”. According to the historians, Arab tribe failed to recognize these names during ignorant era and the Holy Prophet PBUH nominated them throughdivine inspiration.
This holy namebecame a proper name for that true nature whichspreadknowledge and widespread belief among mankind. Moreover, its memory spread to all the world’s languages and people were fascinated, ashe became a slogan for all the excellent modelsand every scarifying based on truth and justice.
UnrealNarrations
Some historical sources and news mentioned various reports about Imam Hussein’s nomination (AS) which are not lack of claims.
1.According to Hani ibn Ali’s narration,Imam Ali (AS) said when Hassan was born the Holy Prophet PBHU came and said what is my son’s name? I responded, I nominated him“Harb”hesaid he is “Hassan”. As Hussein was born, the Holy Prophet PBUH came and said what is my son’s name? I answered“Harb”he answered he is “Hussein” and when the last one was born the Holy Prophet PBUH came and said what is my son’s name? I said “Harb” he respondedhe is Muhssen.
We believe that this narration is not valid.
1) The progenyof prophet’sconduct consists of following Islamic beliefs and
applying its provisions. Islam also abominates nomination based on ignorant
nominationwhich displays mental deficiency and degeneracy. Moreover
“Harb”is a proper name of Umayyad dynasty’s ancestor whois delegate of
oppressive and revengefulagainst Islam. Then, howcould Imam (AS)
nominate them in such a way?
2) The Holy Prophet’s PBUH nomination phenomena of his first tribe by name
ofHarb leads to avoid others nomination the same.
3) According to the historians, “Muhssen” was not born during the Holy
Prophet PBUH lifetime, but he was born after he passed away.
Consequently, it is nothing more than a claim and not true.
2.Based on “Ahmad ibn Hanbal’s”document, Imam Ali (AS)narrated when
“Hassan” wasborn, I nominated him”Hamza”, his uncle’s name, and when“Hussein”was born I nominated him “Jafar” my brother’s name. Then, the Holy Prophet PBUH called me and said “Allahordered me to change their names andnominate them Hassan and Hussein.
This narration is as weak as the previous one, because the historians believe that their nomination tookplace shortly after their births, and no one has mentioned based on Ahmmad’s narration.
3. Considering Tabarani’s document, Imam Ali (AS) narrated “When Hussein was born,I nominated him “Jafar”, my brother’s name. Then, the Holy Prophet PBUH called me and ordered me to nominatehim“Hussein”.
The weakness of this narration is the same as previous ones. Because, Imam Ali (AS) did not outstrip the Holy Prophet PBUH nomination and-according to the documents- he nominated him “Hussein” and the progeny of prophet have consensus.
Aqygheh: Sacrifice Offering on the Seventh Day of a Newly-born Child
Seven days after the birth of his grandchild, the Holy Prophet PBUH ordered toscarify a sheep and distributed to the poor. In addition, he orderedto give its leg to obstetrician. In fact,Islam has legislation in the field of charity and beneficence.
Imam Hussein’s Head Shave
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) ordered to shave his hair and almsgivesilver to the poor based on itshis hair equiponderant, its weight was one and a half Dirham.In terms of what is come in the Holy Prophet’s saying, he ordered to rub his head witha perfume mixture of saffron and other compound and prohibited fromrubbing child’s head with blood as it was popular in the ignorantera.
Circumcision
The Holy Prophet PBUH ordered his household to circumcise the baby on the seventh day. Moreover, he encouraged the circumcision of the infant in this age as it is ritually purer.
