Has any change happened in Holy Quran during the history?

open-quran

Question:
Has any change happened in Holy Quran during the history?

Answer:
1 – The proof that the copies of the Holy Qur’an that we have before us is not just one or two pieces of evidence, rather it is proven by a vast amount of evidence that no fair-minded person can study without becoming convinced that it is exactly as Allah revealed it to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

2 – There have been generations coming one after another, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it, memorizing it and writing it down. They have not omitted a single letter, and no one can change even the vowel point of a single letter. Writing is just one means of preserving it; basically it is preserved in their hearts.
3 – The Qur’an has not come down to us on its own, such that the so-called alterations could be made. Rather the interpretation of its verses, the meanings of its words, the reasons for its revelation, the grammar of its words and the commentary on its rulings have all been transmitted. When such care has been given to this Book, how could sinful hands find a way to distort even one letter of it, or add a word, or take away a verse?

4 – The Qur’an speaks of matters of the unseen, in the future, which Allah revealed to His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to show him that they came from Allah. If a human being wants to write a book, he can describe an event or express a point of view, but if any human being were to speak about matters of the unseen, in this field he can only base that on speculation and lies. But the Qur’an told of the defeat of the Romans by the Persians, at the time when there was no means of communication to inform the Arabs of this event. The same verses also foretold that they (the Persians) would be defeated after a certain number of years. If what the Qur’an said was not accurate, then the infidels would have had a great opportunity to criticize the Qur’an.

5 – If you read any verse of the Qur’an, then you go to America or Asia or the jungles of Africa, or to the deserts of Arabia or any place where there are Muslims, you will find that all of them have the exact same verse, memorized by heart or in their books; not a single letter of it will have been altered.
What would be their response if we went to one of their most trusted books by a well-known author, a book of which there are many copies in the world, all of them exactly the same, and we claimed that there was a copy of this book in some country or other in which there was extra material and alterations, and it was different from what is in their copies? Would they pay any attention?
Their answer would be the same as ours.

6– The manuscript copies which are in the Muslims’ possession cannot be proven to be authentic in this simplistic manner, for we have experts who know the history of calligraphy and we have principles and guidelines through which we may determine whether a manuscript is genuine, such as the names and signatures of the people who heard it and read it.

Is present order of the Qur’an according to its revelation?

revelation

Question:
Is present order of the Qur’an according to its revelation?

Answer:
The Qur’an is Allah’s Book which He revealed to the Prophet through the Angel Gabriel. Everything that has to do with the Qur’an is, therefore, directed by Allah. It is true that the Qur’an was revealed at different times and places and some verses were revealed to provide guidance with regard to particular occasions and events. However, the Prophet could be receiving Quranic revelations of different surahs at the same period in time, with all of these surahs not being complete yet.

When he received such revelation, he also received guidance as to its place in the Qur’an. The Angel Gabriel would tell him: these verses come after such and such verse of such and such a surah. Nothing was left to discretion or to competent scholarship. Allah’s Book is given in the order Allah has chosen. The same applies to the arrangement of the surahs. It is true that the arrangement does not follow a chronological order. It is arranged in the best order which a book meant to provide guidance to all generations of humanity should take. It was often the case that Quranic revelations dealt with particular events as and when they happened in the life of the Muslim community. Hence the order of revelation suited that particular and additional purpose.

As for later generations, they have the Qur’an complete and they refer to any part of it as suits their circumstances. The ordering of the surahs is also divine. The Prophet used to receive the Angel Gabriel when the two of them recited the Qur’an to each other, once every Ramadan. In the last year of the Prophet’s life, they recited the Qur’an to each other twice. Moreover, the Prophet used to read the Qur’an in the order we have now.

Did Prophet Muhammad receive Holy Quran in a written form or orally?

quran

Question:
Did Prophet Muhammad receive Holy Quran in a written form or orally?

Answer:
The Qur’an is the final message Allah has sent to mankind. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Archangel Gabriel, who brought the Prophet complete verses or parts of verses, or passages or complete surahs, as he was commanded by Allah.

When the angel brought down to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) a passage of the Qur’an, he did not bring it written on a piece of paper [or other material]. He recited it to him and the Prophet immediately memorized it. Allah promised him that He Himself will see to it that the Qur’an is kept complete and intact and properly read. This order is contained in Quran: “We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and we will assuredly Guard it (from corruption).” [Al- Hijr 15:9]

As you are well aware, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not read or write. When he received a portion of the Qur’an, he called in one or more of his scribes to write it down. Those scribes wrote the Qur’an on various forms of writing material which was available to them. These included sheets cut out of the branches of the beet tree or other writing sheets made of wood, animal hide, stone or bones.

This started even in the period when the Prophet and his companions were a small persecuted community in Mecca. Many of the companions of the Prophet had some parts of the Qur’an written down and treasured in their homes. The Qur’an is divided into 114 surahs, some of which are short, while others are very long. The revelation did not proceed with only one surah at a time, but the Prophet might have continued to receive parts of several surahs at the same time. When a passage was sent down to him, it was followed by an order from Allah, through the Angel Gabriel, indicating its position in the surah to which it belonged. These manuscripts did not form a single or coherent set.

The Prophet did not keep anything written down in his own home. But most of his companions who were with him in Mecca and Medina memorized much of the Qur’an, and some of them were able to learn it all by heart. The Prophet used to teach his companions either individually or in groups.

In Ramadan every year, the Prophet used to revise the Qur’an with the Angel Gabriel to ensure that he did not overlook any verse or part of it. In the last year of the Prophet’s blessed life, Gabriel recited the Qur’an to him twice.

Is Holy Quran word of Prophet Muhammad or word of God?

holy-quran

Question:
Is Holy Quran word of Prophet Muhammad or word of God?

Answer:
Many people have a misconception that Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) was the founder of the religion of Islam. In fact, Islam is in existence since man first set foot on the earth. God Almighty has sent several revelations and messengers to this earth. All the previous Prophets sent by Allah (SWT) were meant only for their people and their nation and the complete message was meant for a particular time period. That is the reason that the miracle they performed like the parting of the sea, raising the dead to life convinced the people of that time but cannot be examined and verified by us today. Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) was the last and final messenger of God Almighty sent to the whole of humanity and his message is meant till eternity.
The Qur’an mentions in Surah Al-Anbiya:

“That we have sent not thee but as a mercy to the whole of humankind, as a mercy to all world”. (Al-Ambiya 21:107)

Since Prophet Muhammad may peace be upon him, was the last and final messenger and his message was everlasting, that is the reason, the miracle given to him by Allah (SWT) should also be everlasting and examinable by us at all the time. Though Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him), performed several miracles which are mentioned in the Hadith, that is the traditions, he never emphasized them. Those Muslims believe in all these miracles. We only boast of the ultimate miracle given to him by Allah (SWT) that is the Holy Qur’an. Al-Qur’an is the miracle of all times.

It proved itself to be a miracle 1400 years ago. It can be reconfirmed today and forever. In short, it is the miracle of miracles. Probably the only point common amongst the people, whether they be Muslims or non-Muslims is that the Qur’an was recited the first time by the man born in the city of Mecca in Arabia in the 6th Century by the name Muhammad (May peace be upon him).

The most outstanding miracle of Prophet Muhammad

Quran

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he most outstanding miracle of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him and His pure Progeny) was the Qur’an, with which he challenged the kings, the emperors, the idol-worshippers, the Jewish rabbis and the Christian monks.
“And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful.” (Holy Qur’an, 2: 23)

It is obvious that if common people, who are prejudiced in their beliefs, priests from different faiths, who hold onto their followers, kings and rulers, who fear the awakening of their nations, could have confronted the Qur’an then they would not have delayed for a moment.

Do you think that if they had the ability to object to this challenge, they would not, which would outbalance their previous religion and world?

Surely they all took pains in encountering the challenge of the Prophet (S) regarding the Qur’an. They had scholars, poets and orators who were outstanding in eloquence and rhetoric. They would compete with each other every year in the famous ‘Ukkadh market and other places. They would hang the most astonishing poems in the Ka’bah. The most famous of these were the seven placards [mu’allaqat].

They strived for the triumph of their religions and this world, which was being threatened by the Qur’an. However, they returned disappointed and disgraced. They did not find any answer except that they said:

“This is nothing but clear enchantment.” (Holy Qur’an, 5: 110)
History records that Abu Jahl (one of the most famous enemy of The Prophet) went to al-Walid ibn al-Mughayrah, who was an authority for the eloquent Arabs, and put forward to him the challenge of the Qur’an given by Muhammad (S). Thus, he replied, “What should I say in this matter?

By god, there is not a single man among you better than me in poetry, nor is there anyone more knowledgeable than me in poetical metre, thematic sequence and songs. By god, what he (Muhammad (S)) says does not resemble any of these. By god, this Word has a sweetness that will shatter everything below it. It is indeed above all and nothing is above it!”

Abu Jahl said, “By god, your people will not be pleased unless you say something against it.”

He replied, “Give me some time to think.” When he pondered, he said, “This is an enchantment that has information about others.” (Jami’ al-Bayan (Tafsir al-Tabari): vol. 29, pp 195, surah 74, verse 24)

Their allegation that the Qur’an is enchantment is surely due to their surrender to its miraculousness, because enchantment is a result of normal causes that are not outside human powers. Hence, that was an achievable matter for them. Magicians and prognosticators were all over the Arabian Peninsula and the nearby lands.

Nevertheless, history has recorded that they could not find an answer for the challenge of the Qur’an. They thus took refuge in trying to tempt the Prophet (S) with wealth and status. When he rejected all that, they began attempts to murder him (S).

7 STEPS TO MEMORIZE THE QURAN

step

1. Sincerity. The first matter you have to pay attention to is your intention (if you intend good you will get good). Make sure that the intention you are making is only for the sake of Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He), to seek His Pleasure so that insha’Allah, with His Mercy, we will be rewarded in the Aakhirah. It is not to show off in front of others that you have memorized a lot. Sincerity is not a one time factor rather it’s a continual battle that you always have to renew.

2. Consistency. The more frequently you memorize, the easier it becomes. It is very essential to be consistent, and not to skip even one day. There is no weekend in worship. The bare minimum that one should memorize is at least 3 lines, 5 is more ideal. If you are consistent, insha’Allah, you will be able to be huffadh in 5-6 years

3. Timing. The first thing you should do in the day is memorize – even do so before your breakfast, because this is your spiritual breakfast. The best time to memorize is right after Fajr. .

4. Find a recitation buddy: get a friend, a family member or someone you know who will listen to your recitation every day. Ideally, get someone who is also memorizing to create a peer pressure system.

5. Familiarity: start at the same time, at the same place and use the same mushaf every day. You need to have your own copy of the Mushaf (the Madani Mushaf is highly recommended), it will later become so dear to you.

6.Triple daily dose:

a) New memorization at your assigned time of the day

b) Revision of the previous 7 days, just before you start the new memorization: This is because the fastest thing you forget is the new memorization. And doing so, will also build the connector between the old ones and the new portion you are going to memorize. Plus, it will be a good warm up for the brain when you recall from your memory and recite, before you go into the real exercise of doing the new memorization.

c) At a later/another time of the day, revise those before the recent 7 days. The bare minimum should be 4-5 pages.

7. Memorize with the meaning: read the translation before you start and try to match the Arabic words with their meanings.

  5. When you memorize the Quran, your expressing ability will be stronger because of the classic Arabic you acquire from the Quran. You will have more ability for dealing, endurance and patience, because memorizing the Quran is not only like memorizing a poem, a story, or a song. However, when you memorize the Quran, in fact you are changing your attitude towards everything around you, and thus your behavior will be following what you have memorized

7 Important way to be successful

Choosing between failure and success

According to Allah in the Qur’an, the way to be successful is to Fear Him much, and to love and remember Him much, as well as often mentioning His Name. This also involves remembering His Graces upon you, worshipping Him, and begging His forgiveness. The main principles for being successful are comprised of obeying Allah and His Messenger, doing your duty to Him, seeking the means of approach to Him, by abstaining from that which is bad and doing that which is good. We need to strive hard in His Cause as much as we can, have patience, and avoid haughtiness.

The way to success involves performing some specific deeds, while avoiding the taking of some specific actions, such as performing Salat and refusing to perform sins. The Qur’an mentions the following seven actions/abstentions:

1 . Eat not Riba’ (Usury/Interest).
2 . Endure and be more patient than your enemy.
3 . Take a firm stand when you meet the enemy.
4 . Bow down and prostrate (Salat).
5 . (Women) lower gaze and protect private parts.
6 . Women not to show their adornment and draw over their veil.
7 . Avoid intoxicants, gambling and divining.

(cf. Verses 2:189; 3:130, 200; 5:35, 90, 100; 7:69; 8:45; 22:77; 24:31; 62:10)

7 PEOPLE NOT BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE HOLY QURAN

faulire

1- polytheists

2-disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah

3-criminal

4-sinner

5-polytheist

6-pagans

7-wrongdoers

Basically these are the ones who “invent a lie against Allah” by their association of partners (shirk) or reject his Ayat (signs). This disbelief includes denying their meeting with Allah in the next life by giving it no thought. Indeed, they were warned, but this life has deceived them and their wretchedness has overtaken them. They are the ones whose good deeds are few and who do evil acts (such as Zina). They corrupt themselves and rebel against the truth with pride. They are ungrateful for their provision and have stayed with the religion of their forefathers, such as the Magicians who call the truth as clear magic. Both will be “swallowed up” and will abide in Hell.

(cf. Verses 6:21, 31, 135; 10:17, 69, 77; 12:23; 18:20; 20:69; 23:103, 117; 28:37, 82; 91:10)
