Al Khalifa regime denied most basic human rights: Sheikh Salman

Jailed Bahraini Shia cleric Sheikh Ali Salman has censured Manama’s heavy-handed crackdown on dissent, saying the Al Khalifa regime is trampling on the most basic human rights and freedoms in the Persian Gulf state.

In a Twitter message addressed to an annual security conference underway in the Bahraini capital (known as the Manama Dialogue), Salman urged the participants in the forum to have in mind the fact that people in his country are stripped of fundamental human rights – particularly freedom of expression – by Al Khalifa rulers.

The two-day event, which opened earlier on Saturday, is focused on regional security challenges.

alman further said that a great proportion of the Bahraini population has paid dearly in pursuit of demands for the establishment of democracy and respect for human rights in Bahrain.

Thousands of dissidents are currently being held in Bahrain jails, while hundreds of people have been forced out of their jobs since an uprising began against the Al Khalifa rule in 2011, said the 50-year-old Shia figure.

The imprisoned opposition leader also urged participants in the Manama conference to help create an atmosphere of serious dialog between the Al Khalifa regime and the opposition.

Salman was detained on December 28, 2014 on charges of attempting to overthrow the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty and collaboration with foreign powers. He has strongly denied the charges, emphasizing that he has been seeking reforms in Bahrain through peaceful means.

On June 16, a Bahraini court sentenced Salman to four years in prison on charges such as insulting the Bahraini Interior Ministry and inciting others to break the law. He was acquitted of seeking regime change.

Saudis Still Not Cooperating with Iran on Mina Tragedy

Iranian Vice President for Legal Affairs Elham Aminzadeh strongly criticized the Riyadh government’s lack of cooperation with Tehran on probing the death of the country’s pilgrims during the Hajj rituals in Mina, near Mecca, on September 24.

“The Saudi officials are still not cooperating with Iran on the Hajj tragedy,” Aminzadeh said on Saturday.

She called on the Saudi government to cooperate with Iran, and said, “We cannot achieve our objectives in this regard as long as Saudi Arabia does not cooperate with Iran because we have to gather the evidence from Saudi Arabia.”

Aminzadeh said that the Iranian Fact-Finding Committee is seriously following up the death of the Iranian Hajj pilgrims, and will try legal channels to restore the rights of the victims.

In Late September, Aminzadeh blamed Saudi Arabia for mismanaging the Hajj ceremony which led to the tragic incident of stampede in Mina, and called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to find a way to protect the pilgrims.

“As the Supreme Leader has stated, the Saudi government is required to shoulder its heavy responsibility for this bitter incident and meet its obligations in compliance with the rule of righteousness and fairness,” Aminzadeh said at the time.

On Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed regret over the Saudi officials’ negligence about presenting a reliable report on the causes of the Mina stampede, and said Tehran will pursue the death of its nationals in the Mina incident through legal channels.

Turkish Shia Scholars Condemn Ayatollah Nimr’s Death Sentence

Turkish Union of Shia Scholars in a statement released on Saturday condemned Saudi judicial system’s decree for execution of Shia religious leader Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

The decree issued by the Saudi courts against Sheikh al-Nimr is not logical and fair, the statement added.

The Turkish Union of Shia Scholars urged the Turkish high ranking officials, including the president and prime minister, to protest the illegal decree which is against the international rules and regulations.

Several top Shia and Sunni clerics around the world have also warned the Saudi government against execution of Saudi Shia national religious leader, saying that such harsh moves will injure the sentiments of all Shia Muslims across the world.

The warnings to Saudi government came against the backdrop of the death sentence against Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Al-Nimr has been charged with disturbing the country’s security, rebuking the Saudi government and Saudi King for failure to respect civil rights of the Saudi people.

Activists say there are over 30,000 political prisoners in Saudi Arabia.

London based human rights group, Amnesty International, censured Saudi government for not addressing the “dire human rights situation” in the kingdom.

Supreme Leader’s points of JCPOA sign of intelligence

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated that Ayatollah Khamenei’s nine-point requirements for the implementation of the JCPOA are a sign of intelligence and complete defeats the enemies’ plots.

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani quoted Imam Khomeini as saying that “our policies are the essence of our religion.”

His Eminence pointed out that the main duty of Iran is to build the peoples’ intelligence and increase their insight. He added that Islamic policies are twofold: The first aspect is to separate evil policies from Islamic policies and the second is to be aware of other important aspects of the evil ways of the enemies before they are manifested.

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani made the remarks during a meeting with Brigadier-General Gholam-Reza Jalali, the head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization, and his accompanying delegation.

“We must prepare ourselves against them so that all segments of our society, even those in the most remote parts of the country, should be aware of the policies of the US, Zionists and Saudis,” he stressed.

He added that recognition of one’s enemies is a direct command of God in the Quran, adding that Iran’s greatest enemies are the United States and Israel, and added: “In three places in the Holy Quran, God calls upon the believers to prepare themselves to protect against sedition and emphasizes the importance of jihad in the way of God. When the Prophet David killed the tyrannous warrior, Goliath, God granted him wisdom, respect and knowledge. Thus, we should not refrain from jihad and stand on our feet [and resist].”

The Iranian scholar stated the intelligence and awakening of the Iranian nation depends on the peoples’ obedience and compliance to the orders of the Supreme Leader, saying: By the kindness and grace of God, we have a powerful military and its leader is an intelligent, knowledgeable and informed person and if we always obey his commands, our system will be strong and stable.”

Grand Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani also noted that through Imam Ali’s Nahj al-Balaghah (The Peak of Eloquence), which the late founder of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini said includes the greatest discussions on governmental and cultural issues, the people can become familiar with the Islamic policies.

The renowned source of emulation said at during the caliphate of Imam Ali, some thought that Mu’awiyah was a better politician than Imam Ali but the Imam said that this is because Mu’awiyah ruled through policies of deception and treachery which are forbidden in Islamic law, and that he was aware of Mu’awiyah’s plans.

“Iran’s rulers have always been intelligent, knowledgeable and insightful and aware of the deception of its enemies,” he said.

The Saudi Prince Caught up in a Drugs Bust is Lucky It Happened in Beirut

Ahlul Bayt News Agency – It’s not every day you get to bust a Saudi prince. Amphetamines. Twenty-five boxes and six suitcases, all – according to photos and video – stamped with the Saudi Arabia emblem of palm tree and crossed swords, to be shipped out on a private Saudi jet.

And on the boxes can be seen the name of an emir of the state for which David Cameron himself lowers the British flag when the monarch dies. Even this short dispatch may have the effect – fear not – of raising the eyebrows of the Saudi ambassador to London, who has been warning the British that 50,000 UK families may be at risk of losing their livelihoods if we don’t stop whining on about human rights in their Salafist-Wahhabi institutional kingdom.

But relax. Abdul Mohsen bin Walid bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud (born 18 July 1986, according to his diplomatic passport) was reported to have been attempting to fly out of Beirut International Airport with four Saudi chums on his private jet on Sunday. The Lebanese who grabbed them must regret that their customs scanner ever picked up the cargo.

Lebanon is deeply indebted to the Saudis who generously rebuild much of Lebanon every time Israel invades it. The eloquent Lebanese Minister of the Interior Nouhad Machnouk has already denied knowledge of any details of the affair – a likely story – saying that it is “in the hands of the justice [ministry]”.

No doubt. A Lebanese website has even given the name of the judge – Dany Chrabieh – who referred the emir and his four Saudi companions to the country’s Central Office of Combating Drugs. Lebanon’s press is trumpeting the whole affair as one of the biggest suspected drug trafficking hauls in the history of Beirut airport – which has quite a history – and the value of the seized cargo as around £190m. But what was it all for? Were the two tons of Captagon (alleged) to be resold?

Were they to pick up the flagging energies of Saudis enjoying the nightclub pleasures of the world? Militiamen in Lebanon’s wars certainly used drugs to keep on fighting at night. And Lebanon has not always had a perfect reputation when it comes to drugs. The 1975-90 civil war generated a massive hashish industry, which has continued, on and off, in the Baalbek area – in miniature form – ever since. But surely this has no connection.

Al Jazeera, Qatar’s empire-building television channel, has been glorying in the story. Which is not surprising, given the Qatari emir’s frightful relationship with the Saudis. This is the same television channel which put out two interviews with the leader of the Islamist Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria not long ago in an obvious attempt to persuade the Americans that his group was just the kind of “moderate” outfit the Americans should support in Syria’s civil war.

As opposed to Isis which is rather popular among some Saudi citizens. But it’s all a bit embarrassing. If there’s an elderly Briton facing 350 lashes for transporting alcohol in Saudi Arabia, what would the Saudis have done if they found all this Captagon in their own kingdom? Pakistanis and Sri Lankans and others from poor countries suffer head-chopping for less.

But let’s rely on Lebanese justice. Innocent until proved guilty. Lebanon’s large Sunni Muslim community loves Sunni Saudi Arabia. Indeed, two of its prime ministers (Hariri, father and son, both good men) have been Saudi as well as Lebanese citizens. All just one big mistake, surely. Wrongly labeled boxes. Or perhaps a fiendish conspiracy by Saudi’s Hezbollah enemies in Beirut to embarrass the most respected royal family in the Middle East.

Bahraini Shi’a child tortured in detention, transferred to solitary confinement

Ahlul Bayt News Agency – The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights (BFHR) stated that the Bahraini child Ali Abdullah Isa (15 years old) was recently arrested in a raid on his father’s house in Zayed city in the early hours of the morning by members of civilian security forces and was taken to the juvenile detention center.

BFHR added that he “was harshly beaten and tortured, despite his medical condition as he suffers from sickle cell anemia and was born with a punctured heart,” calling for his immediate release.

In its statement issued on Thursday (October 22, 2015), the BFHR stressed that Ali Abdullah Isa was transferred to solitary confinement and “was subjected to abuse” and according to witnesses “he was transferred to the emergency room in the hospital to be returned to the detention center, and was also prevented from meeting and contacting his family for 7 days.”

“Between 2011 and 2014, 515 children have been arrested in Bahrain over political reasons and all those involved in torturing and killing children have not been held accountable to date, which reflects a prevalent policy of impunity practiced in the country,” BFHR further stated.
