Moscow book fair 2014 kicks off

The 27th edition of Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) has kicked off to showcase tens of thousands of various books from across the world, Press TV has reported.

Some Iranian publication companies and representatives offered their books in various categories such as classics, religion, history and biographies at the Russian annual exhibition.

A number of Iranian children’s books and e-books published by Iran’s Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) are among the exhibited books.

The presented books have been offered in original language or translated into English or Russian.

The fair committee, during recent years, has selected one country as the guest of the honor; but this year’s event has no guest.

The Moscow International Book Fair is annually endowed with thousands of rare titles as well as popular books by many international authors.

Established in 1977, the fair hosts a lot of participants include Russian and international publishers, book distributors, literary agents, translators, book printers, and librarians every year.

The annual exhibition provides both readers and industry professionals with the opportunity of achieving the latest literature news and meeting many writers.

The event is also a powerful marketing for the book industry, as the fair participants study vital tendencies of the publishing market, strengthen contacts and develop new ones with Russian and international companies and sign contracts.

This year’s exhibition hosted many best-selling authors to present their latest books and give speeches about their work.

The 2014 Moscow International Book Fair is scheduled to run until September 8.
